Say Hello to the Future: Three Reasons to Love the iPhone X

Hands and pockets of consumers around the world are starting to fill with the new iPhone X, Apple’s 10th Anniversary iPhone. Whether it be Face ID or Animoji, this phone has sparked a lot of discussion. We’d like to add to that discussion by sharing with you three things we love about the iPhone X as well as how you can win one.

REASON 1: ANIMOJIS

While there are other animated emojis available through various apps, none copy your facial expressions like the Animojis on the iPhone X. Pick one of the 12 available characters and watch your unique, personalized message come to life, as the TrueDepth camera analyzes more than 50 different muscle movements to mirror your expression. You may be surprised by the character’s movements from time to time as each has its own quirks, especially when raising your eyebrows.

And we can’t forget about Animoji karaoke. Animoji karaoke and lipsync videos are an addicting hit. Our Animation Desk Team decided to give these animated emojis a try by creating their very own Animoji karaoke video edited with Write-on Video. Check out their rendition of “Hakuna Matata” embedded above.

REASON 2: TRUEDEPTH AND DUAL MP12 CAMERA’S

Striking iPhone X photo.
Look at how strikingly the iPhone X’s True Depth Camera capture’s this leaf. One of our employees took this photo while on vacation in Japan earlier this month.

With the iPhone X, Apple demonstrates just how much innovative thinking you can fit into a tiny space. The TrueDepth and Dual MP12 Cameras house sophisticated technology that make the complicated simple. Selfies are taking a major step up. New ‘portrait light’ functions and the TrueDepth ‘depth-of-field effect’ allow you to add stunning studio-grade effects to your selfies and photos. Well-known video appraisal site dxomark.com gave the phone image quality an overall rating of 97, with a score of 101 for still images. The iPhone X just made your Write-on Video projects even more professional.

REASON 3: FACE ID

Cat Face ID Expirement
Two of our employees brought their cats in to see if we could set up Face ID with them and then see if Face ID was smart enough to tell them apart. Sadly, the experiment failed, but we had a lot of fun in the process.

With the iPhone X, you never have to worry about forgotten passwords or dirty fingers preventing you from unlocking your phone again. Your face is your new password. Using a detailed depth map of your face created with the TrueDepth camera system, your phone will only unlock when you are looking at it. While Face ID is not 100% spoof proof yet, for most their information is more secure this way. If you have a revenge plotting or prank playing identical twin, however, your information may be more secure with a fingerprint or passcode.

We love this feature so much we will be incorporating it into our PDF Markup and NoteLedge apps. With Face ID your information is encrypted and protected by the Secure Enclave and keep private. The data never leaves your device and isn’t backed up to the iCloud or anywhere else.
