January 13th is National Sticker Day! You may be surprised to learn that the history of the original sticker dates back as far as the 1880’s when European merchants were responsible for using sticker labels on their products. The modern-day sticker creation is credited to Ray Stanton Avery who created “Kum Kleen Pricer Stickers” in 1935 to be sold commercially. Later on, the Avery Dennison Corporation was created, and is still going strong today. The corporation has employees in 37 countries, and over 16,000 employees.
Of course, stickers have evolved since their creation and now January 13 has been dubbed National Sticker Day since 2016. In fact, during the first celebration of the event, StickerGiant set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Sticker Ball. It ended up being 231.6 pounds and 8.8 feet around. Talk about crazy. Wonder where they have the space to store this specific sticker ball?
Digital World and Stickers
Today stickers are frequently used in the digital world and you are already quite familiar with many of them. In everyday messages, we send different forms of stickers such as Emoji’s and Bitmoji’s. Stickers can also be very useful in note-taking, video and photo editing, and documentation applications.
Adding Stickers in with Kdan
At Kdan, you may have noticed that we love stickers! In our Creativity 365 series, we offer a wide variety of stickers to add to your creations. Stickers add creativity, flare, and emotion to your work! How can you say no to adding a fun sticker? Creativity can set you apart the rest, so it’s time to add some stickers to your work! Every sticker has a story, and we want you to share yours with us. Use the hashtag #KdanMobileSticker for us to be able to see your creations.
Using stickers are only a few taps away. Stickers are easily found in all of our applications such as Write-on Video, where you are able to add motion stickers and sound stickers to your videos. Have you ever had an image you wanted to use in a video project, but it needs to stand out more? You can add these stickers to help decorate stationary photos and bring them to life. Stickers also help bring your project to the next level as they can add some more emotion to your work!
A sticker is not just something that sits on a screen and adds flare. We also have created a variety of stop motion stickers that help do more. A sticker is sure to do the trick if you need to spice something up with a special effect!
If you’ve followed along with any of my work at Kdan, you have probably noticed by now that I am a big fan of adding stickers to all of my NoteLedge photo collages that I make. Not only do I think that they are bright, creative, and fun, but I think it helps set my work apart from others as it spices up and adds more to blank spaces in my creation.
Stickers have many purposes. They can help you highlight a specific event so that you don’t forget that it’s coming up on your calendar, help you become more creative, and express emotions with emoji like stickers.
Make Documents More Readable Than Ever
Instead of adding a blurb of boring text to a document or presentation, next time try your hand at using one of our stickers. A lot of text can make an image distasteful, and make someone lose their interest very quickly. If you have a sticker on your work, not only does it stand out more, but it grabs your viewers’ attention quicker. Their eyes will focus automatically to something that is bright and stands out.
More Stickers, More Fun
Have you ever had a great idea for a sticker? Have you ever wanted to create a sticker of your own that you can use in iMessage or email? If you answered yes to any of the above, then it’s time to get creating!
It’s a lot easier than you think to make your very own sticker. You have the ability to export animations as GIFs into Animation Desk and create them right there on the spot! If you want to learn more as to how to create a sticker of your own, you can do so here.
Be sure to share the stickers you create on social media using the hashtag #NationalStickerDay and tag Kdan Mobile so that we can see your work.
